For the second year in a row, people are invited to participate in the charity campaign “Let's help to prepare for school together!”

2021-08-09

Today, on August 9, the shopping and entertainment centre “Akropole” in cooperation with partners - SIA “Eco Baltia vide”, “Latvijas Zaļais punkts”, the association “Palīdzēsim viens otram” and the parents' organization “Mammām un tētiem” - opens a charity campaign "Let's help to prepare for school together". The aim of the charity campaign is to help those Latvian families, who, due to various reasons, are unable to take care of their children's school supplies.

From August 9 to September 6, every person is invited to go to the B entrance of “Akropole”, where there are specialized red donation boxes with the inscription “Let's help to prepare for school together!” This year, children also need school bags, stationery, clean and wearable clothes, including sportswear, and shoes. People can donate things they have brought with them, also the donations can be purchased in the stores of “Akropole” tenants.

Zane Kaktiņa, manager of the shopping and entertainment centre “Akropole”: The charity campaign “Let's help to prepare for the school together” has become a tradition today - for the second year in a row, we have the opportunity to help those Latvian families and their pupils, who need this help the most. Last year's donations are a testament to the fact that together we can all help by making donations to the people around us. We hope that our donations and the donations of society will help children starting and resuming their studies this year.

“If everyday in the Latvijas Zaļais punkts we talk about 5P or five basic principles for creating environmentally friendly habits, then this time we can add another P- Palīdzēt - “Help” to this concept. And help can also be provided with responsibility towards nature. For example, by giving a second life to things that we do not need ourselves anymore, but that are of high quality and still fully usable, and giving them to those who may even need these things vitally, ”says Kaspars Zakulis, Director of the Latvijas Zaļais punkts, expressing satisfaction with the initiatives of organizations to organize such campaigns. “We hope that also this year, the gifts placed in our red containers will be able to create joy and motivation for many, many pupils,” says K. Zakulis.

Linda Novicka, board member and project coordinator of the association “Palīdzēsim viens otram”: "In many Latvian families, August is a stressful month because they have to prepare their children for school. For some families, this is a huge strain, as there is not enough money to buy school bags, supplies and new clothes, because, certainly, after the summer, children have grown out of everyday school clothes and shoes, as well as sportswear. This charity event is your opportunity to help families to take care of their children's needs. Good things create more good things.”

“Charity campaigns that are becoming a tradition are of great value - especially those that are supportive of the family. And this campaign is such a campaign, that is the reason why us, the parents' organization “Mammamuntetiem.lv”, are honoured, that we can be a part of this tradition. Preparing for school inevitably requires financial resources from the family, and many families with school-age children need support,” says Inga Akmentiņa-Smildziņa, the head of the Latvian parents' organization ”Mammamuntetiem.lv”.

Thanks to the support of contributors, last year 14 school bags, a rich amount of stationery and pencil cases were delivered to families in different parts of Latvia, as well as a lot of clothes and shoes were handed over to the boarding schools in Latgale and Cesvaine.
