The new shopping and entertainment centre Akropole is open

2019-04-04

Today the new shopping and entertainment centre Akropole in Riga on Maskavas Street 257 celebrated its grand opening. Spread across two floors, it will be home to almost 170 tenants, including around 140 fashion and lifestyle stores, various service providers, the new Apollo Kino cinema, O’Learys entertainment zone, an ice arena for hockey and skating, brand new Lemon Gym, as well as 30 different restaurants and cafés.

“We are truly delighted and proud of our accomplishment and invite everyone to discover a new level of shopping and entertainment experience in a contemporary, high quality environment that also respects its historical heritage of the former Kuznetsov Porcelain and faience factory,” said Akropole Riga CEO and Akropolis Group Board Member Kaspars Beitiņš. He acknowledged that Akropole is currently one of the most modern shopping and entertainment centres in the Baltics and the first shopping centre in Latvia to have received the prestigious BREEAM certificate already in the design stage, thus confirming that it meets the highest energy efficiency and sustainability standards and provides the most environment- and people-friendly solutions possible.

“I’m glad that Akropole has become part of this great city, so first of all I would like to thank the city of Riga and its residents. Riga's Akropole is the first shopping and entertainment centre that Akropolis Group has developed abroad, an architecturally complex and exclusive project that preserves the spirit of history in a modern building. At the same time, it is the Akropolis Group’s biggest investment totalling EUR 180 million. Therefore, constructive collaboration with the city was vital for us. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and helped the dream of Akropole Riga come true, enabling it to become the most modern shopping and entertainment centre in the region, offering a full array of new experiences for people. This experience will enable us to accelerate the development of new Akropolis’ in other countries,” said Vytautas Labeckas, Chairman of the Board of Akropolis Group.

Also opening its doors at the new Akropole shopping centre will be the biggest and most modern Maxima XXX supermarket in Latvia. ““Today, we have taken a large step into the future, changing the retail industry in Latvia. Akropole is one of the past year’s most ambitious projects, with many years of work behind it. It unites historical values with the very best offered by modern innovations and opportunities. We are proud to be part of this unique experience. Having begun a new phase of strategic development, today we have unveiled one of the most modern, innovative and largest stores in the Baltics, offering the best experience to our customers and employees. Akropole’s  new Maxima XXX store has been modelled on the future of shopping, uniting our knowledge with the most contemporary worldwide retail trends. We will offer our customers a new, pleasant experience - smart technologies, digital solutions adapted for customers’ convenience, a special and varied product selection and a range of innovations for the needs of modern customers. This is a new shopping concept in a contemporary, sustainable and modern environment,” said Andris Vilcmeiers, Chairman of the Board, Maxima Latvija.
